Captain Shepard's Inn is on Avenue D one block north of U.S. Highway 90. The 18-inch-thick adobe walls and the extra distance from the railroad provide a peaceful atmosphere for inn guests. Marathon's elevation of 4,040 feet and its low humidity provide cool nights and surprising comfort in the shade on hot afternoons.

The inn's large trees and inviting porches provide the perfect setting to enjoy a good book or engage in a pleasant conversation.

Captain Shepard's Inn has five large guest rooms, each with private bath and access to porches. There are two sitting rooms, a dining room and a kitchen. Coffee and sweet rolls are available in the kitchen. Television and telephone are available in the common areas. All bathrooms have shower/tubs. Inn guests have access to a washer and dryer.

The Carriage House has two bedrooms, one bathroom and a sitting room with kitchen and fireplace.
